PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit capable of cushioning a shock from the outside by means of a simple constitution and suppressing a malfunction caused by damage to a lamp. SOLUTION: The light projection opening 1a of the front surface of a casing 1 is formed in a rectangular shape. Two cold-cathode fluorescent lamps 2 are supported by a lamp holder 3 to be described below within the casing 1 so as to be parallel to each other. The lamp holder 3, composed of silicone rubber having high thermal conductivity, has an insertion hole 31 whereinto the end 21 of the lamp 2 is inserted and a leading-out hole 33 wherefrom wiring 1b is led out. In the insertion hole 31, a plurality of groove parts 32 are formed in such a manner as to be parallel in the direction of insertion of the lamp 2 so that the outer surface 22 of the lamp 2 comes into point-contact with lower ends 32a of the groove parts. In the first embodiment, the groove parts 32 are formed in the insertion hole 31 of the lamp holder 3 installed at both ends 21 and 21 of the lamp 2 for prevention of damage to the end 21 of the lamp 2 by cushioning the shock propagated from the outside to the outer surface 22 of the end 21. |
