PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time from the point of time when an image forming apparatus with an added image reader is turned on to the time when a fixing unit becomes ready to print. SOLUTION: When a copying process is performed right after the power source is turned on (in copy mode at S11), the image reader is made to read a document and a 1st amount of electric power is supplied to the fixing unit (S13). When the image reader completes the read of the 1st document (Yes at S14), a motor which constitutes a printer part is actuated (S15). When the motor reaches a specific rotational frequency (Yes at S18), a printing process is carried out (S19).
