PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting diode capable of high-speed operatin, and an optical transmission module using it. SOLUTION: This light-emitting diode drive circuit posseses an LED (1), a first current switch circuit (2) which is connected in series with this LED (1) and turns on or turns off the current by the external input signal inputted from an input terminal (32), a pulse current generating circuit (3), which is connected in parallel with this first current-switching circuit (2) and applies a pulse current having a pulse width narrower than the pulse width of the external input signal, so that the rising part of the light waveform outputted from the LED (1) is turned into desired waveform, and a discharge circuit (5) which is connected in parallel with the above LED (1) and quickly discharges the charge accumulated in the LED (1), when the current of the first current- switching circuit (2) is turned off. |
