PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital exchanger that can effectively utilize the capability of an operation section in an echo canceller trunk, regardless of the distance of communication party. SOLUTION: In an echo canceller 14 for canceling through addition of an echo signal generated in a communication path to a telephone set 41 of one's party to a pseudo-echo signal, the operation section 51 is provided. In the operation section 51, an arbitrary number of taps that are composed of a delay circuit are connected in parallel, thus providing a pseudo-echo generating circuit. By providing a central control unit 15, taps are connected in parallel, merely by the number corresponding to the transmission delay time of the echo signal in a pseudo-echo generating section 54, to generate the pseudo-echoes.
