PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a broadcasting receiver which receives sound programs for maintaining the sound volume level of a received audio program at an appropriate level, even if the sound volume level fluctuates. SOLUTION: The broadcasting receiver is provided with a sound-detecting circuit 15, which always detects the sound volume level of the received sound program and a control section 13, which calculates the mean value of the sound volume level during a prescribed time interval immediately before the circuit 15 detects the sound volume level from the detected results of the circuit 15, compares whether the sound volume level detected by means of the circuit 15 is higher than a preset threshold as compared with the mean value, and adjusts the output level of sounds, by controlling the amplification value of a sound amplifier circuit 18, based on the compared results.
