PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device which is capable of sufficiently changing the wavelength of output light by deforming the output light by external force. SOLUTION: The microballs or air bubbles of silica or barium titanate are incorporated into a gelatinous material, by which a plastic photonic crystal 2 is formed. When the external force is impressed to this photonic crystal, the photonic crystal 2 is deformed, by which a photonic band gap is easily changed. When the photonic band gap is changed, the passage of the light of a specific wavelength is limited. Consequently, the light of the desired wavelength is outputted from the photonic crystal 2. This wavelength can eventually be varied easily by the external force. |
