PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make executable a cleaning operation at need. SOLUTION: This tape cassette houses a tape provided by connecting a cleaning tape to the end of at least one of a leader tape and a trailer tape provided in both sides of a magnetic tape. The tape driving device is constructed so as to execute a cleaning operation by using the cleaning tape of the tape cassette when necessary.
