The hydrodynamic gas spring comprises a cylinder with a central chamber (7) containing a damping medium. A separate chamber at one end contains a piston (18) which separates a chamber (17) filled with gas from a chamber (19) containing damping medium. A hollow piston (2) fitted at the opposite end of the central chamber contains a piston (11) which also separates a chamber (10) filled with gas from a chamber (12) containing damping medium. The chambers filled with damping medium are connected by throttle valves (16, 23) to the central chamber.
