READING AND UTILIZING OPTICALLY READABLE DATA ELEMENTS

The invention relates to a method for reading and utilizing information stored in two or more optically readable, two-diemnsional data elements (10) such as matrix code elements. The method comprises reading the information by means of an optical reader (51) and loading it into a mobile terminal (11), interpreting header information (21) from each data element, arranging the information sequentially in accordance with header information (24) concerning each individual data element's number in the sequence, decompressing information retrieved from the data elements (10), transferring the data to an application (54) in accordance with header information (26) concerning data type, and employing the data according to the said data type. The method preferably also comprises retrieving additional information from an internet location by means of an address locator (27) such as a URL, which is derived from the header information. The invention also relates to a terminal and a computer program for implementing the method.
