The acoustic call signalisation method has the original signal tone volume used for the acoustic call signalisation reduced after a preselected time interval, with selection of the amount by which the signal tone volume is reduced. The time interval may be selected for corresponding to the time taken for the mobile telephone to be removed from a jacket pocket, the volume reduction corresponding to the noise damping provided when the mobile telephone is within the jacket pocket. An Independent claim for a mobile telephone with an acoustic call signalisation method is also included.
