摘要 A welding electrode or rod containing dispersed flux particles is made by mixing a jet of liquid metal and a jet of granular flux and freezing the mixture before the flux material has been substantially fused. The fluxes are in a dry state and for welding aluminium may include hygroscopic salts such as sodium, potassium or lithium chlorides or fluorides. Four parts of steel containing 0.08 to 0.12 parts of carbon, 0.35 to 0.5 per cent of manganese and 0.02 per cent of phosphorous and sulphur may be used with one part of a dry flux ground to 40 mesh and containing 5 per cent of ferro-silicon, 35 per cent of ferro-manganese, 15 per cent of silicon, 20 per cent of iron oxide, 15 per cent of calcium carbonate and 10 per cent of titanium dioxide, or for downhand, or fillet welding three parts of a similar steel may be used with a flux containing 30 per cent of silica, 55 per cent of iron oxide and 15 per cent of ferro-manganese. Three to four parts of steel containing 12 to 18 per cent of chromium, or 18 per cent of chromium with 8 per cent of nickel or 20 to 25 per cent of chromium and 12 to 20 per cent of nickel may be used with 1 part of a mixture of 50 per cent of calcium carbonate, 30 per cent of fluor spar, 10 per cent of titanium dioxide, 6 per cent of ferro-silicon and 4 per cent of ferro-manganese.
