The system has a base station and at least one mobile unit with a control unit that sets a current saving mode in the mobile unit in which parts of the unit are isolated from the electrical power supply. The control unit switches the mobile unit to an energy-saving mode called a super current saving mode, whereby parts of the mobile unit required for transmission of signals to and from the base station are isolated from the power supply. The system has a base station (B) and at least one mobile unit (MT) with a control unit (C) that sets a current saving mode of the rest state in the mobile unit, in which parts of the mobile unit are isolated from the electrical power supply (SV). The control unit switches the mobile unit to an energy-saving mode called a super current saving mode of the rest state, whereby the parts of the mobile unit that are required for transmission of signals to and from the base station are isolated from the power supply.
