A carbonaceous material produced by generating arc discharging between carbon-based electrodes is directly deposited on a proton conductor to form a fuel electrode and an oxygen electrode, while a catalyst material is mixed into the carbon-based electrodes to allow the fuel electrode and the oxygen electrode to carry the catalyst metal. The proton conductor used is formed by introducing proton dissociative radicals into a carbonaceous material serving as a base and containing carbon as a main component. Since a carbonaceous material generated by arc discharging is directly deposited on a proton conductor as a support to form electrodes, electrodes can be reduced in thickness, thereby carrying out cell reaction effectively to improve a cell performance in the produced fuel cell.
|
