The assembly to brake moving loads e.g. freight cabins or cages in shafts and especially mine shafts, has the side guides for the carrier (2) formed by hollow track plates (3a,3b). The brake belts (9a,9b) and the roller boxes (6a,6b) are integrated into them. The roller boxes have brake limit stops at their facing sides, projecting into the movement path, with catch hooks (13) to work with locking bars (16) at the carrier.
