The seat has an upper rail (4) and a lower rail (3) fastened to the vehicle body. The closed rail profile and the longitudinal direction of seat adjustment, define a chamber (10) containing a reinforcement (12) for the upper rail. In a rear position of the seat, the upper rail projects over the lower rail. The reinforcement is a separate component of metal with hollow profile and compressed sections for fastening points (14).
