The extruder produces a number of melt strands which are distributed and fed into the feed roller gap. Preferred features: The melt strand is produced by a nozzle plate on the extruder head. It is produced by nozzles on the extruder casing, in one or more rows. Rows are straight and/or curved and/or radial and/or inclined with respect to the extruder casing. The rows meander, zig-zag or are sinusoidal. Planet roller extruders are used at least in the extrusion section and the nozzles are located in the bases of the internally-toothed casing. Individual melt strands are fed into the roller gap, being spread or bundled, entirely or in part. Guides with tubes, channels or fingers are employed. Guides are adjustable singly, collectively or in groups. They are adjustable parallel to the roller gap, on rods, and are held detachably by clamps. The strands are drawn mutually-parallel from the nozzles, deflected repeatedly, and fed mutually-parallel into the gap. Guides are articulated repeatedly and have joints. Reciprocation during charging takes place through a length which is less than once or twice the spacing between nozzles and extruder. The feed drive is provided by a linear motor, piston or eccentric.
