PURPOSE: A visual device and method for measuring main optical axis of headlight of automobile is provided to automatically detect faults of the headlights during manufacturing process of the automobile. CONSTITUTION: A visual device comprises a pole(10); an inspecting window(20); a level(40); a condenser lens(170); a vertical moving handle(30); a tester support(70); rails(82); a photocell holder and a photometer. The pole(10) is for measuring height of headlights. The inspecting window(20) is for inspecting horizontal of an inspected vehicle. The level is for adjusting horizontal of a tester. The condenser lens condenses light of the headlights. The vertical moving handle(30) is for correction of vertical position of the tester. The tester support supports the tester. The rail is for horizontally moving the tester. The photocell holder and the photometer are for measurement of a main optical axis of the headlight.
