PURPOSE: An angle detector is provided to improve the performance by relieving the limit of the size, and to enhance the precision of the detected angle around the Z-axis by increasing the radius of action of the angle detector. CONSTITUTION: An angle detector is composed of a sensor head(71) and a rod(72), and is formed to have the arc-like configuration along the rotation locus of a rotating body(1). The amount of movement of the sensor head along the rod is converted to the angle by dividing the movement amount with the common curvature radius between the rod and the sensor head to calculate the rotation angle of the rotating body. The sensor head is mounted on the rotating body, and composed of induction coils receiving AC signals. The rod has plural magnetic responding members. The rotation angle of the rotating body about a rotating shaft(2) is detected from output signals induced in the induction coils by moving the sensor head to the rod.
