A process for HF surgery divides the signal into active (c1) and pause (c2) sections using an amplitude modulator. The ratio of the peak value in the active phase to the total effective value is controlled by the duration of each phase and the HF energy is not directed to the tissue during the pause phases. A process for HF surgery with an HF voltage signal transmitting energy to biological tissue has an amplitude modulator dividing the signal into active (c1) and pause (c2) sections, with the ratio of the peak value during the active phase to the total over both phases being controlled by the duration of each. The HF energy during the pause phase is taken up by a receiver and not by the biological tissue. An Independent claim is also included for an HF voltage generator for the above process.
