An arrangement for the switching of a starter current has a starter motor (10), a first clamp (12), a second clamp (14), a pole housing (16) and a sliding contact (18). The sliding contact is located between the starter motor and the pole housing. A heat-conducting connection exists between the sliding contact and the pole housing. A first component (20) of the sliding contact is rigidly connected with the pole housing and a second component of the sliding contact is connected electrically with the starter motor. The first component of the sliding contact has regions (24,26) with different specific electrical resistances.
