The HV testing method has the housing surfaces of the vacuum cleaner coupled to an earth protection lead subjected to a HV test via a program-controlled testing station or robot, using a test pin contacting the metallic fixing screws for the vacuum cleaner housing parts and/or the joints between the latter. The test pin is provided by a soft carbon fibre brush.
