The invention concerns a method enabling data transmission between a distribution network counter provided with a transmitter and at least two different types of receivers, each type of receiver using a specific communication protocol. The method consists in transmitting by means of a transmitter data to be transmitted during a transmission period T1 according to a first communication protocol specific to the receiver R1; then, with the same transmitter, the data to be transmitted are transmitted during a transmission period T2 according to a second communication protocol P2 specific to the receiver R2. The data transmission steps according to both protocols are successively and indefinitely repeated.
