The method involves exposing the lining which is to be renovated and cleaning the bitumen-containing outer layer (20); applying a flexible, plastics- and cement-containing hydraulically bonding sealing sludge to form an intermediate layer (32) and selectively applying at least a further adhesive layer over the bonded sealing sludge layer. A plastics-modified coating layer based on bitumen emulsions is then applied.
