PURPOSE: A method is provided to determine a delay time from a characteristic map, which is based on an integration value of a voltage difference between reference voltage and output voltage of a rear side oxygen sensor. CONSTITUTION: In a method for controlling air fuel ratio by modulating air fuel ratio function controlling an injector, data comprising output voltage of a rear side oxygen sensor, a cooling water temperature, an engine rpm, a throttle valve opening degree is inputted. Then, it is decided whether an air fuel ratio condition satisfies above data. If the control condition satisfies, the difference from a reference voltage of the output voltage is integrated. A delay time is calculated from the difference integration value. The air fuel ratio function is modulated from the delay time.
