An apparatus for degassing a liquid (2) in a liquid transport path comprises a feed line (6) for the liquid leading to a conditioning container (1); a device (13) for producing a low pressure in the conditioning container; and a storage container (3) connected to the conditioning container for receiving the degassed liquid. An Independent claim is also included for a process for pumping a liquid using the above apparatus comprising feeding the liquid into the conditioning container, degassing the liquid by adjusting a low pressure in the conditioning container, and feeding the liquid from the conditioning container to the storage container. Preferred Features: The conditioning container has a heater (5) for the liquid. The feed line is connected via a valve (8) to the base of the conditioning container. The low pressure is produced using a pre-vacuum pump.
