The invention relates to a method and a device for processing units of money, such as banknotes or coins. According to the invention, the money units are transported from one input compartment to one or more output compartments, respectively, according to predetermined sorting criteria. In order to broaden the scope of application of banknote sorting machines, the control device that is provided for the processing device is configured to be able to output units of money of several different denominations in a predetermined number, respectively, into at least some of the output compartments, so that these units of money can be prepared. Compared to previous methods for grouping units of money, which have been predominantly manual, the inventive solution offers a rapid, reliable, automatically assisted method for grouping units of cash. |
