<p>An irrigation scheduler (10) modifies output of a pre-programmed irrigation schedule of an installed irrigation controller (200) to at least partially improve irrigation of the corresponding landscape. Preferred embodiments accomplish this task using a microprocessor (20) programmed to: (a) derive a first set of information from the output of an irrigation controller (200) used to control an operation of an irrigation valve (350); (b) receive a second set of information comprising at least one of an environmental factor (current, estimated or historical ETo value) and a meteorological factor; and (c) use the first and second set of information to interfere with reception of the output by the valve (350). The microprocessor (20) is preferably disposed in the irrigation scheduler (10), and the irrigation scheduler (10) is not an integral part of the irrigation controller (200). The irrigation scheduler (10) also preferably interferes with reception of the output by the value indirectly, using a control circuit (40) that is preferably a switching circuit.</p> |
