<p>A mechanical seal for mounting to a stationary housing that contains a rotating shaft (12) is provided. The mechanical seal employs an inboard mounted spacer element (74) to provide axial and radial spacing between a holder (50) and a gland (40). In addition to providing selected axial and radial spacing, the spacer element (74) promotes or enhances fluid circulation in a process chamber formed between the gland (40) and holder (50) by rotating about the shaft.</p> |
