SAFETY PLATE FOR SECONDARY BATTERY

PURPOSE: A safety plate for a secondary battery is provided, to prevent the explosion of a lithium ion secondary battery in case of the unordinary increase of internal pressure by forming a curved groove on the safety plate. CONSTITUTION: The secondary battery comprises an anode(2); a cathode(6); a separator(4) placed between the anode(2) and the cathode(6); the winded jelly roll(8); a battery case(10) connected with the cathode; and a top cap assembly(12) which is connected with an anode and seals the open part of a battery case(10), wherein the safety plate(30) contains a curved groove. Preferably the curved groove is formed diagonally on the outer part of the battery case. The radius of curvature of the groove is 3-50 mm. The any one or both terminal of the curved groove is extended to a straight groove.
