PURPOSE: An image processing method of an image processing system is provided to accurately recognize only an object image from a background image. CONSTITUTION: A 256-gray level image is inputted. The image is converted into a binary image according to an arbitrary threshold value. A start point for extracting a contour of the binary image is designated, and the address of the start point is set as a condition of ending the extraction of contour. The outmost connection points are tracked using a 3x3 mask on the basis of the designated start point until the condition of ending the extraction of contour is satisfied. When the extraction of contour is finished, the inside of the contour is filled, to extract only an object image from a background image.
