The invention relates to a method for introducing a seal (6) into a panel, comprising at least two plates (4, 5) of thermoplastic material and spacing means between these plates wherein the method comprises the following steps: heating at least one of the plates of thermoplastic material until it becomes soft; and subsequently exerting pressure on at least the heated plate in a direction substantially perpendicular to the spacing means, so that the distance between the plates decreases until they contact each other to fuse or flow together in order to form a seal.
