GLASS FIBER REINFORCED POLYMER COMPOSITE INSULATOR

PURPOSE: A glass fiber reinforced polymer composite insulator is provided to replace ceramic supporting high voltage wires to save usage of unnecessary insulators, particularly to remove conventional ceramic insulators by manufacturing cross arms used in a post using a glass fiber reinforced polymer composite insulator having excellent mechanical and insulating characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A cross arm type insulator(10) comprises a cross arm(12) and a wire anchor(16). The cross arm(12) is made of glass fiber reinforced polymer composite, and is mounted to be perpendicular to a post. The wire anchor(16) is mounted on a top surface of the cross arm(12) by bolts(14), and is made of glass fiber reinforced polymer composite to support wires. A supporter of the wire anchor is opened or closed so that the wires can be easily installed to the cross arm(12) without being inserted into the wire anchor.
