The method involves the terminal (EG1) sending logical address information identifying the external destination to a central connection controller (GK1) of network-internal connections, which identifies a gateway device (GW2) as the destination using the address information and establishes a connection between the terminal and gateway device. The terminal sends the logical address information to the gateway device, which derives a valid network-external transport address (IPGW2) and propagates the connection to this address.
