There is disclosed a method of transmitting information on a light signal, comprising generating a light signal and adjusting the polarisation value of the light signal to one of at least two values in dependence on one of at least two values of information to be transmitted. A method of receiving such a light signal is also disclosed, as well as transmitter and receiver circuitry for implementing the method.
