PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing hydrogen cyanide by ammoxidation of methanol, capable of maintaining high yield for a long period. SOLUTION: Hydrogen cyanide is produced by ammoxidation of methanol, using a fluidized bed catalyst which contains molybdenum, bismuth, iron, nickel, chromium, potassium, component F and silica as its essential components, and in which the ratio 20/p is between 0.8 and 1, wherein the number 20 is the product of the valence of molybdenum as molybdic acid and the atomic ratio of molybdenum and p is the sum of the product of the valence and the atomic ratio of each component element of bismuth, iron, nickel, chromium, potassium, component F, G and Y. Molybdenum containing compound is properly added during reaction. |
