GEAR OIL COMPOSITION FOR ENHANCED PERFORMANCE OF FINAL DRIVE TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel lubricant composition. SOLUTION: The lubricant composition comprises a mineral oil as the base and a viscosity index improver mixture of (B) a vinyl aromatic-diene copolymer, an olefin copolymer or a mixture thereof and (C) at least one poly-alpha-olefin having a kinematic viscosity of at least 40 cSt at 100 deg.C, and exhibits excellent low and high temperature rheological properties and is particularly suitable for use in the automotive and industrial gear applications. This lubricant composition exhibits improved performances such as increased axle efficiency and a lowered axle oil sump temperature compared to other lubricant compositions having a mineral oil base without containing the above viscosity index improver mixture.
