PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for optimizing the holding ratio of the membrane of a nano-filtration apparatus, which is provided in order to filter a solution, by improving the function of the membrane of the nano-filtration apparatus. SOLUTION: In the method for optimizing the function of the membrane of the nano-filtration apparatus provided in order to filter the solution, the holding ratio of the membrane is optimized. In this method, permeated water and concentrated water are circulated through the membrane for a definite time before a nano-filtration membrane begins to use. This method can be adapted to the treatment of a photographic bath.
