PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording liquid for ink jet recording having especially excellent ejection stability and giving a good printed image. SOLUTION: The recording liquid for ink jet recording contains a water- insoluble coloring material, an ionic polymer, an aqueous medium and arbitrary other components. The amount of the water-insoluble coloring material is 1-10 wt.% based on the total components, that of the ionic polymer is 5-100 wt.% based on the water-insoluble coloring material and all components in the recording liquid are composed of the same components of a pseudo-recording liquid for the determination of rheological properties. The kind of each component and the ratio of the ionic polymer to the water-insoluble coloring material of the pseudo-recording liquid are the same as those of the recording liquid, the ratio of the water-insoluble coloring material to the total component is 12 wt.%, the ratio of the other components to the sum of the other components excluding the water-insoluble coloring material and the ionic polymer is the same as that of the recording liquid and the loss tangent (tanδ) measured at an angular frequency of 3 rad/s and a strain of 10% and defined by tanδ=G"/G' (G' is storage rigidity; and G" is loss rigidity) is >=2.5. |
