PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catching mechanism of a simple structure which catches ink drops unused for printing, suppress splashing and atomizing of ink, and minimizes clogging due to paper and dust, etc., without influencing a trajectory of ink drops. SOLUTION: An ink catching mechanism defines an ink fluid backflow channel 76. A housing having a top surface cover 62 and the like and a screen 60 projecting from the housing are included. The screen 60 is arranged after a screen supporting member 70, and its both end parts 74 communicate fluidically with the ink fluid backflow channel 76. When the ink drops unused for printing contact the screen 60 using a wire mesh material, the ink drops changes from a spherical shape to a shape of a fluid layer 80. The fluid layer 80 bedews the screen 60 by surface tension, and sends the ink drops 58 to the ink fluid backflow channel 76. |
