PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer coloring matter having a readily adjustable coloring density, useful for various purposes by introducing a coloring matter chromophoric group to a molecule and to provide a method for producing a polymer coloring matter, capable of readily synthesizing the polymer coloring matter without using a reagent having high toxicity and a hardly obtainable coloring matter raw material having a specific structure. SOLUTION: This polymer coloring matter is obtained by subjecting a halogen atom of a polymethine compound having a methine chain containing the halogen atom as a substituent group to a substitution reaction with a hydroxy group of a phenol of a polymer compound having a phenol skeleton in the molecule. The coloring matter is obtained by subjecting a phenolic hydroxy group of the polymer compound containing a phenol skeleton and a halogen atom in a polymethine compound having a halogen atom on the methine chain to a substitution reaction. A polymethine compound having 750-1,200 nm absorption maximum wavelength is introduced as the polymethine compound to produce a polymer coloring matter having infrared absorptivity. |
