PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material and a manufacturing method of the sheet material wherein a ratio of a used petroleum product can be reduced to prevent contamination of natural environments, predetermined strength can be kept even if a content of a synthetic resin material is reduced, and the sheet can be easily set up into various forms such as a box. SOLUTION: The sheet material 100 comprises a foamed sheet 125 comprising a mixture of a powder of a plant itself or its processed material and a polyolefin-based resin and/or a biodegradable resin wherein the mixture is foamed and crushed in thickness, and a reinforcing sheet 120 stuck to one of surfaces of the sheet 125. The powder of the plant itself or its processed material constituting the foamed sheet 125 accounts for 51 wt.% or more. The reinforcing sheet 120 is made of paper.
