PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of setting a machining range in each machining area so as to be large without taking an inertial running distance of a mobile body at the time of an abnormal stop into account. SOLUTION: In a vertical type machining center 1 in which a main shaft head 15 is moved within either one of machining areasα,βpartitioned by a partition plate P in a certain machining mode and the main shaft head 15 is moved over the machining areasα,βin a machining mode with the removed partition plate P, a stopper 20 constituted of a fixed side stopper member 21 mounted on a saddle 13 and movable side stopper members 26 and 27 mounted on a bed 11 is provided for interrupting advancing of the main shaft head 15 from one of machining areasα,βto the other of the machining areasβ,αin the machining mode for moving the main shaft head 15 within the one of machining areasα,βand for allowing moving of the main shaft head 15 between the machining areasα,βin the machining mode for moving the main shaft head 15 over the machining areasα,β. |
