PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply a scent corresponding to an impression to an object when images are printed by detecting the impression to be given by the images to a viewer on the basis of image information. SOLUTION: A controller 10 detects the impression given by the image by carrying out an image analysis process based on image information (step S1). The scent corresponding to the detected impression is specified on the basis of preliminarily set correspondence information between image impressions and scents (step S2). Image information and a scent order signal for designating the specified scent are outputted to a printer 20. In the printer 20, an image- printing part 11 prints inputted image information to the printing object such as a paper or the like, and at the same time, a scent-applying part 12 applies the designated scent to a designated position. In this manner, the printing object after processed has not only the image printed, but the scent corresponding to the impression by the image applied. Information can be provided visually with the sense of smell to the viewer, improving the feeling of being at the spot.
