PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamping device for providing strong clamping force. SOLUTION: When clamping, compressed air is discharged from a second chamber 22 of a pneumatic cylinder 12 and compressed air is supplied to a first chamber 21. A piston 20 is moved in a right direction by pressure of the first chamber 21 and energizing force of a compression spring 25 and the piston 20 strongly advances an output rod 26 in a left direction via a plurality of engagement balls 34 and a first pressure receiving member 31. Therefore, a clamp arm 10 oscillates counterclockwise and strongly presses a metallic mold 2. When unclamping, compressed air is discharged from the first chamber 21 and compressed air is supplied to the second chamber 22. The piston 20 is moved in a left direction by pressure of the second chamber 22. At the same time as the moving, the output rod 26 is retreated in a right direction by a retreating spring 47 and the clamp arm 10 is swung clockwise by a return spring 19.
