PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter for a display not affecting light emission of three primary colors of red blue and green, having excellent durability of heat resistance, light resistance, etc. SOLUTION: This squarylium-based coloring matter represented by general formula (I) (A and B are each independently a pyrazole group which may contain a substituent group) is used in a filter for a display.
