PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder feed device which can reliably discharge powder in a powder storage vessel which has a simple construction and can be prepared at a low cost. SOLUTION: In a toner feed device 10 which has a replaceable toner storage vessel 11 to feed toner T in the vessel 11 to a developing device 2, the vessel 11 as a toner storage vessel has a toner discharge port 11c on one of the side walls thereof. The vessel 11 is disposed so that the port 11c is directed vertically downwards, and the vessel 11 is moved back and forth to move the toner T toward the port 11c. In the reciprocal movement, the magnitude of the acceleration produced when the vessel 11 advancing in a direction in which the toner T is moved toward the port 11c is stopped, is set larger than the acceleration produced when the toner vessel 11 moving backward is stopped. At the same time, the acceleration is set to such a magnitude that the toner T in the vessel 11 is moved as a single body. |
