PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient method for producing a rosin compound- containing emulsion whereby an organic solvent is not used in the preparation of the emulsion, the emulsifier added is in a small amount and the excellent storage stability can be maintained even at the high content of rosins. SOLUTION: The mixture containing one or more sort of radical polymerizable monomer of 10-200 pts.wt. and the emulsifier with respect to the rosin compound of 100 pts.wt. is atomized in an aqueous medium to obtain a dispersion wherein a fine particle mixture having the average particle size of 1.5μm or less is dispersed in the medium. The polymerization initiator is added and one or more sort of radical polymerizable monomer contained in the dispersed fine particle mixture is subjected to emulsion polymerization to obtain a radical polymer. The fine solid particle obtained by containing the radical polymer and the rosin compound is uniformly dispersed in the medium together with the emulsifier to obtain the emulsion.
