PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for generating a negative ion, in which a special device and an undynamic stimulus are not necessitated and also deterioration with the lapse of time, deterioration by continuous use or repeating use, furthermore deterioration due to maintenance of washing and cleaning or the like are less prone to occur. SOLUTION: A negative ion is generated by abrading a material containing >=8 wt.% stock which preferably consists of polyvinyl chloride and is easily charged by negative static electricity by means of the material less prone to be charged by negative static electricity in comparison with the stock easily charged by negative static electricity.
