PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double bearing fishing reel to be surely gripped even in a cold season or in summer. SOLUTION: A side face 2a and an outer peripheral face 2b of a fishing reel side plate 2 and an outer peripheral face of a left frame 1a are detachably covered with a cover member 4. The covering member 4 is integrally formed with a side face 4a, an outer peripheral face 4b and a collar part 4c in a cup shape from a natural rubber, a synthetic rubber, etc., of a flexible nonmetallic elastic deformable material. The collar part 4c is provided with a notch 4d into which a retention plate 10 is inserted. The covering member may be transparent or opaque. When the side plate 2 is covered with the cover member 4, the side face 2a, the outer peripheral face 2b and the outer peripheral face of the left frame 1a are covered with the side face 4a and the outer peripheral face 4b and the collar 4c is brought into contact with the inside wall face of the left frame 1a.
