Oversize chips are removed for compaction and storage in a first step and the remaining chips are sorted into several different fractions (8a-8d) for separate storage. A process for sorting, storing and supplying wood chips (1) to cooking process comprises delivering a flow of chips to a thickness screen (2) in a first phase and then to a flat screen (7) in a second step. In the first step the flow of chips is divided into two fractions, the first fraction (3) being oversize in terms of thickness and is delivered to a chip press (4) or a similar device, from where it is delivered to a storage device (5), from where it can be unloaded for cooking. The second fraction (6) containing chips with a known thickness is delivered to a planar screen, which divides the chips according to their diagonal dimensions into several different fractions. Some of this material (8a-8c) is delivered to separate storage devices (9a-9c), from where the material can be unloaded with the aid of an unloading device (10a-10d). |
